Bosworth Collection

This collection contains portraits of various members of Alfred Bosworth (1846-1930) and Eleanora Maria Wheeler’s (his wife) family. Alfred’s father, Increase C. Bosworth, was one of Kane County’s most successful pioneers. In 1875, Alfred and his father partnered with Julius Carpenter to start their own private banking business called Bosworth, Carpenter & Company. In 1876, their company purchased the controlling interest in the First National Bank of Elgin and the Elgin City Banking Company. Alfred assumed management of both and became general manager of the largest banking business in the county. There are portaits for the following people:
