We're very excited to be hosting a visit from the Mobile Museum of Tolerance, co-presented in partnership with Representative Suzanne Ness.
The museum will be here for a 2-day open house on July 29 and 30 in the Dundee Library parking lot from noon to 7 pm. both days. The first-of-its-kind in the United States, the MMOT is a traveling mobile education center, utilizing innovative technology and interactive lessons to bring a message of tolerance directly to communities throughout Illinois. The purpose of the MMOT is to inspire people of all ages and backgrounds, empowering them to raise their voices to combat anti-Semitism, bullying, racism, hate, and intolerance, and to promote human dignity. The open house will feature an exhibit and videos about the Civil Rights Movement, Anne Frank, and the role of ordinary people during the Holocaust. MMOT staff will be on hand to answer all of your questions.
To coincide with this event, Sarah Sullivan, Department Chair Economics, Political Science, History, Instructor of History and Business and MCC Faculty Association president at McHenry County College, will be presenting Beyond Rosa: The Woman of the Montgomery Bus Boycott, at the Dundee Township Park District's Adult Activities Center down the street on Monday, July 29 at 1 p.m. Any attendees of the presentation are welcome to join the group walking over to the museum when it is finished.
We hope to see you at both of these fascinating and informative events. Make sure to stop inside the library and check out our civil rights display to learn even more.
