FAQ

FRVPLD serves residents in Carpentersville, East Dundee, Gilberts, Sleepy Hollow, West Dundee, and parts of Algonquin, Elgin, and Barrington Hills. To see if you live in our district, visit our service map.

To find out how to get a library card, visit our Get a Card page.

You may access your account on the library website homepage. In your account, you may view your holds and checkouts, renew materials, and update your email and password. Your default password is the last four digits of the phone number connected to your account.

Use the search box at the top of our website to search for books, DVDs, CDs, downloadable materials like eBooks and eAudiobooks, items in the Library of Things, and more. You can search for the title, author, subject, call number, or ISBN. This will search all fields in library records for your entered search terms.

Search the catalog and find the item that you would like to place a hold on. Click the “Place Hold” button by the item in your search results or on the item record page. If prompted, log in with your library card number and PIN. Choose where you would like to pick up your hold (Dundee Library or Randall Oaks Library) or Home Delivery. Click “Submit Hold Request” to finish requesting the hold.

We deliver materials to all patrons who live within our service boundaries. Visit our Home Delivery page for details, as well as information about our Homebound Service for patrons who are unable to visit the library due to temporary or long-term physical or medical disabilities and might need more time with their materials.

You can remotely send print jobs and pick them up at the Dundee Library or Randall Oaks Library. Visit our Remote Printing page for instructions.

We do not have used books for sale or host book sales at this time.

If we do not have an item you are looking for, visit our Can’t Find It page, where you will see how to request it from another library or that we purchase the item for our collection.
