This is a free online class through Lynda.com, an online learning platform that the library provides to our patrons. An internet-connected device is required and the course can be accessed from the library or at home with a valid FRVPLD card. For more information, please visit the Course page. You can also access Lynda.com from our Research page.

Pre-algebra is the first step in high school math, forming the building blocks that lead to geometry, trigonometry, and calculus. This course will help you master the basics: from addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division to new types of numbers (integers and negative numbers) and concepts such as the order of operations and distribution. This course includes practice challenges and worksheets, as well as tips for educators who are helping students master pre-algebra for Common Core. Karin Hutchinson also helps you evaluate, write, and simplify expressions, and solve word problems and complex algebraic expressions.

Feel free to contact the Adult and Teen Services department if you would like more information about the online course or if you need help accessing it. You can contact us via email at libraryhelp@frvpld.info or via phone at 847-428-3661 and ask for the Information Desk.
